Mereka yang Meninggal di usia 27

Sebuah godam menghantam panggung rock pada 4 Oktober 1970. Janis Joplin meninggal dunia. Perempuan rocker itu, lead vocal dan penulis lagu cemerlang yang tergabung dalam Big Brother and the Holding Company (setelah sebelumnya berkelana dari panggung ke panggung bersama The Kozmic Blues Band dan Full Tilt Boogie Band), ditemukan tak bernyawa di kamar rumahnya. Joplin, yang semasa hidup dikenal biang pesta, doyan mabuk, diindikasi overdosis heroin.

Ini hantaman kedua dalam kurun waktu dua bulan. Sebelumnya, pada 18 September, dunia rock kehilangan dewa gitar. Jimi Hendrix tewas akibat kelebihan mengkonsumsi obat tidur (ia mencampurnya dengan obat-obatan lain dan meminumnya dengan wine).

Tak sampai satu tahun, musisi hebat lain menyusul meninggal secara tragis. Jim Morrison, frontman band The Doors. Juga karena kelebihan mengkonsumsi obat-obatan terlarang (meski ada spekulasi bahwa ia dibunuh). Dua tahun sebelumnya, tepatnya 3 Juli 1969, mantan gitaris The Rolling Stone, Brian Jones ditemukan tewas tenggelam di kolam renang rumahnya.

Sejak kematian Morrison, di ranah rock mencuat satu “takhyul”. Usia 27 menjadi usia yang rawan bagi rock star. Usia kutukan! Keempatnya menghembuskan nafas terakhir dalam usia 27 dan memang kutukan tak berhenti sampai di sana.

Tahun 1994, tepatnya pada tanggal 5 April, pentolan Nirvana, band grunge paling masyhur di dunia, Kurt Cobain, bunuh diri. Usianya juga 27. Bahkan setelah Cobain, masih ada 13 kasus lagi. Teranyar adalah Amy Winehouse. Total jumlah musisi (plus seniman pematung dan pelukis kelas dunia) yang meninggal dalam usia 27 berjumlah 45 orang.

Fenomena ini, yang disebut sebagai “27 Curse” (ada juga yang menyebut: “Forever 27 Club”) menarik untuk ditelisik. Apakah memang kematian mengejutkan musisi terkenal pada usia 27 ini hanya sebuah kebetulan? Ataukah memang ada benar-benar sebuah kutukan?(ags)
